RISING STAR
Daniel O’Neill, from Maewa Station, has had an exciting hockey season in the Whanganui Under 13 Boys Hockey Development Squad.
The season ended with an exciting tournament in Palmerston North, with teams coming fall over the North Island and playing seven games over three days. Daniel’s highlights included travelling, eating, the time he spent with his team and the friendships made, which led to better on-turf connections.
Daniel, who plays goalie, enjoys being the last line of defence and proved his ability to held up well under pressure throughout the tournament. Daniel was even lucky enough to get one-on-one goalie training from Casey Pinnock, and Les Wilson (1974 Olympics Hockey Gold medalists) during the season.
Daniel is excited to carry on with his hockey next year at a secondary school level, and is very grateful for Coastal Lamb’s sponsorship towards the tournament.
