THE GORDON’S @ ROTOKAWA
This month, we enjoyed catching up with the Gordon family – from Rotokawa, a 320ha property on the coast, 10km south of Whanganui.
Daniel is the fourth generation at Rotokawa, along with his wife Anne-Clé and their sons Tom (4), Harry (2) and Lou (9 months).
Rotokawa is run alongside the family’s hill country farm, Awarua, east of Taihape, and the combined properties complement each other very well. Lambs that are born on the hill country property are later moved to the Coastal block for finishing.
It’s been a busy and challenging couple of months on-farm for the Gordon’s, with a drier than usual season which has triggered a few bumps in the farming calendar. However, with the recent rain, the Gordon’s are gearing up for a new season, with lambing just around the corner.
The Gordon’s enjoyed squeezing in some Duck Shooting in May, with Harry getting right involved this year.

And they also welcomed a new littler of Labrador puppies to the family.
